Police Make Arrest In Hit And Run That Hospitalized Two
CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) - Police in Clinton Township have arrested a Macomb Township man in connection with a hit and run accident that critically injured two people.
Police say the 38-year-old man and the vehicle involved in the accident are currently in custody, as felony charges are expected to be filed.
Investigators say a 19-year-old female and 20-year-old male were attempting to cross 15 Mile Road east of Griswald Street around 7 p.m. on Friday when they were both struck by a westbound pickup truck.
According to eyewitnesses, the pickup did not brake nor attempt to stop at the scene, fleeing westbound on 15 Mile Road. One eyewitness followed the vehicle, obtained the license plate number and vehicle description, and called police.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and placed into custody within hours of the incident.
The victims, both Clinton Township residents, were transported to Mt. Clemens Regional Hospital. The female victim is in extreme critical condition with head trauma and the male victim is listed in serious but stable condition.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Identities of all parties are being withheld at this time.
