Police Make 2 Arrests In I-75 Shooting
DETROIT (WWJ) - Michigan State Police have two suspects in custody in connection with a shooting along I-75 in Detroit that left one woman injured.
Lt. Michael Shaw said the suspects, who were not identified, will be lodged at the Detroit Detention Center pending review from the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. He also said the vehicle involved in the shooting has also been recovered.
The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on a busy section of northbound I-75 near Livernois. Police said a woman who was traveling in a van with her boyfriend was shot in the right leg after another driver pulled alongside their vehicle and opened fire.
The woman was rushed to Detroit Receiving Hospital while the freeway was shutdown for nearly four hours as investigators worked the scene. No one else was injured.
Shortly after the shooting, police told WWJ they did not believe it was a random shooting, and that the suspects followed the victim onto the freeway.
Shaw said they would release further information on the incident as it becomes available.
