Police Looking For Driver In Fatal Hit-And-Run
FERNDALE (WWJ) - Police in Ferndale are asking a hit and run driver to surrender for a fatal accident that killed a woman along 8 Mile Road.
WWJ's Sandra McNeill reports on the accident which happened in the area near Pinecrest Road.
Witnesses tell police that the 38-year-old victim appeared to have stepped in front of a pick up truck in a dimly lit area last Friday night.
Miriam Scott had just walked away from an area group home and police say they don't believe the driver was to blame.
But officials say if the driver does not come forward that person may face felony charges for leaving the scene of an accident.
The at-fault vehicle is described as a light-colored 2000 to 2004 Ford Heavy Duty pick-up truck.
A $1000 reward is being offered for information at 1-800-SPEAK UP.
