Lockdown Lifted After Shots Fired At Fairlane Town Center
DEARBORN (WWJ/AP) -- A Dearborn shopping mall was on lockdown on Monday afternoon after gunshots were fired inside.
No injuries were reported from the Fairlane Town Center in Dearborn after shots were fired at about 4:30 p.m. Police say the shooting followed a dispute between two people.
No arrests have been made.
Shoppers and employees were told to remain in place as police searched the mall. Mikaelya Baez was on the job at the Bravo Italian restaurant.
"Nothing that extreme has happened, so I did kind of feel safe. We always have security come to our location," Baez said. "But now knowing that this happened so easily and that it took so long for them to even find the person, that's just scary that that can happen."
The mall was under lockdown, along with nearby University of Michigan-Dearborn and Henry Ford College. Emails to U-M Dearborn students said that there were four active shooters.
Evening classes were canceled.
