Police Investigate Taxi Driver Sex Assaults

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Police in Ann Arbor are working to determine if three separate criminal incidents involving taxi drivers are related.

The latest reported incident took place early Sunday morning when officials said a 23-year-old woman got into a cab on South University, and was allegedly assaulted by the driver. The woman told police the driver touched her thigh and kissed her before dropping her off at home.

Earlier this month, a University of Michigan student said she got into a taxi at about 2 a.m. on South University to go to her off-campus apartment. But the taxi driver allegedly drove her to a parking lot where he raped her.

Last month, another woman said a cab driver touched her inappropriately.

There have been no arrests.

Anyone with information about any of these crimes is asked to call Ann Arbor police at 734-794-6939.
