Police: Suspicious Package Was Explosive Device
DETROIT (WWJ) - Police have detonated a suspicious package that stopped traffic on a southwest Detroit street for several hours, Friday.
Police and Homeland Security agents were on the scene near West Fort and West Grand Boulevard , to investigate a potential bomb threat.
Police told WWJ Newsradio 950 that someone reported a suspicious package shortly before 10:30 a.m.
Friday afternoon, Detroit Police said they detonated the package, identified as an explosive device, but declined to say exactly what made the package suspicious or exactly where it was found -- although it was believed to have been in an alley.
Satellite maps show a credit union and an engine parts warehouse near the intersection.
There were no reported injuries.
