Police Investigate Shooting On I-94 In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - Michigan State Police are trying to figure out exactly how a 17-year-old was shot in the leg on I-94 in Detroit.
Police say they responded to a crash between a vehicle and a semi-truck on I-94 and French Road around 9:40 a.m. Tuesday. While troopers were en route, Detroit police started receiving reports of shots being fired in the area.
When they arrived on the scene, troopers observed one vehicle crashed into an MDOT arrow board, shell casings around the vehicle and blood in the vehicle and on the ground. However, there weren't any victims or witnesses on the scene.
During their investigation, police learned a 17-year-old man from Detroit was at St. John's Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg. Police say the victim is cooperating and is being interviewed by detectives.
At this time, police say it's unclear if the traffic crash is part of the shooting investigation.
