Police Investigate Alleged Sex Assault At Church Daycare
TROY (WWJ) - Police are investigating a report of a sexual assault that allegedly took place at a Troy daycare.
Troy police say Child Protective Services was called to look into the alleged incident at St. Augustine's Lutheran Church daycare facility.
Letters were sent out to parents whose children have attended the facility in the last few years.
"These are the types of incidents that tend to shock the conscience of the community," said Troy Police Public Information Officer Captain Robert Redmond, in a statement. "I would like to remind everyone that these types of investigations are very sensitive, and very private. They take considerable time to investigate properly. We will assuredly protect the identity of all involved in this matter."
It was not immediately clear if the alleged victim was an adult or a child.
Police were not releasing any further information about the alleged assault or the victim as of Wednesday evening.
