Police Investigate 2 Shooting Deaths In Wixom
WIXOM (WWJ/AP) - Police in Wixom are trying to figure out if they have a double murder or a murder-suicide to investigate.
The situation may have started Wednesday night, when residents at in the Stone Ridge Apartment complex heard two loud bangs. Neighbors told reporters they didn't call police because they didn't think the loud noises were gunshots.
Then, on Thursday, property management was asked to check on a man and a woman in the complex who did not report for work. That's when the bodies were discovered and police were notified.
According to police, both victims were shot to death but their injuries "made it difficult to make a positive identification of either person at the scene." Reports say both victims suffered a shotgun blast to the face.
Autopsies are expected to be completed Friday.
Police said there were no obvious signs of forced entry at the apartment, located off Pontiac Trail between Beck and Wixom roads.
Investigators are now working to determine whether the deaths were a murder-suicide or a double homicide. Several witnesses are also being questioned.
Wixom Public Safety Director Clarence Goodlein said the man is about 40-years-old and the woman is about 25-years-old.
Anyone who may have information on the case is asked to contact the Wixom Police Department's Anonymous Tip Line at 248-624-0884.
