Police: Girl Ejected From Car, Possibly Run Over
LIVONIA (WWJ/AP) - An 11-year-old girl was critically injured after police say she was ejected from a car during a rollover crash, and possibly being run over by another vehicle.
State police said the crash happened at around 1 p.m Sunday on southbound I-275, near 6 Mile Road in Livonia. The driver of a Ford Taurus lost control of the vehicle, which side into the median, rolled over several times and struck a fence.
Police said three people were ejected, including the girl, who police say was thrown onto the northbound lanes.
State troopers on the scene of another nearby crash witness the accident. They moved the girl out of the way until EMS arrived to take her to Botsford Hospital. From there, the girl was airlifted to University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor where she was listed in critical condition.
The other passengers in the car were treated for minor injuries and released.
The crash is under investigation. Police said none of the backseat passengers were wearing their seat belts.
