Police: Elderly Man Had 100 Bricks Of Cocaine
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - An 87-year-old Indiana man appeared at a detention hearing Monday after authorities said he was stopped on I-94 in Washtenaw County with a load of cocaine in his pickup truck.
Leo Sharp was stopped by a state trooper on Friday for improper lane use near Chelsea. Police said that's when they found over a hundred brick-shaped objects which tested positive for cocaine. The total weight was 228 pounds.
Sharp, who has no criminal record, claims he was forced at gunpoint to transport the drugs.
It wasn't immediately clear where Sharp was headed when he was stopped on Friday. He is due back in court next month.
