Police: Clinton Township Couple Died Of Blunt Force Trauma
CLINTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ/AP) — Autopsies have revealed that a 56-year-old man and his 55-year-old wife -- whose bodies were found in their Macomb County home -- were beaten to death.
Clinton Township police Capt. Richard Maierle told WWJ Newsraio 950 that James and Christy McKeogh died of blunt force trauma and that both deaths are being investigated as homicides.
"We're doing a lot of background on everybody, some tips coming in and we're trying to sort through the information," Maierle said.
James McKeogh's body was found Friday afternoon in the garage and Christy McKeogh's body was found in the living room of the house in Clinton Township, northeast of Detroit.
Police have said blood was visible on the bodies and that Christy McKeogh's cellphone and possibly some cash were missing.
Clinton Township police Capt. Richard Maierle tells the Macomb Daily that investigators aren't sure if the slayings were random.
The couple had lived in the home for about 20 years.
