Police Chase Ends In Crash On I-94
DETROIT (WWJ) - A police chase that started in Warren ended on I-94 in Detroit after the suspects crashed into a Michigan State Police cruiser.
Warren police say the whole thing started early Thursday morning, after a full-size van smashed into a CVS Pharmacy near 9 Mile and Schoenherr roads and six suspects made off with the store's ATM. Officers responded to the scene and that's where the slow-speed chase began.
Police say the chase ended on eastbound I-94 just past the I-75 interchange when the van's driver slammed into a guard rail and damaged a state police cruiser. No one was injured.
Police say the six suspects were apprehended at the scene.
The ATM fell out of the suspects' van during the chase and was recovered, police said.
The crash created about a mile-long backup on eastbound I-94, as only one lane was open to traffic due to an investigation. The road has since reopened.
