Police Bust Dog Fighting Ring In Pontiac, Seize 18 Dogs
PONTIAC (WWJ) - The Oakland County Sheriff's Department has cracked down on a dog fighting operation in Pontiac.
WWJ's Rob Sanford reports one person was arrested and four people were ticketed Wednesday, after Oakland County Sheriff Deputies raided five homes in Pontiac as part of a crackdown on dog fighting.
Sheriff Michael Bouchard said they seized 18 dogs -- some of them underfed and covered with scars, while others were so malnourished they couldn't walk.
In one of the homes, deputies say they found a treadmill with a leash attached to it, a method used to condition dogs for fighting.
Oakland County Animal Control now has custody of the dogs.
An investigation is ongoing. Information about the suspects was not immediately released.
