Police Bust Booze Bandits In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police were on the case of some booze bandits at a west side liquor store Thursday morning.
Officers loaded bottles of cognac, tequila and other items into shopping carts and returned the spirits to their rightful owner after catching the suspects just a block away from the crime.
WWJ's Vickie Thomas spoke to the owner of the Palace Liquor Store, who said someone broke into the store on Fenkell and Cherrylawn around 4 a.m. and made off with cart-fulls of booze.
The store owner said Detroit Police were on the scene quickly and were able to apprehend the thirsty thieves.
About one block away from the store, police had a section of Ellsworth Street blocked off where rows of liquor bottles and what appeared to be a cash register could be seen lining the roadway.
A young woman could be seen sitting in the back of the back of a squad car, although police wouldn't say if any arrests were made. A white ford taurus was towed away from the scene.
