Police Arrest Possible Suspect In MSU Student's Shooting Death
GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ/AP) - A man with possible connections to the shooting death of a 20-year-old Michigan State University student has been arrested in Grand Rapids.
East Lansing police say the 19-year-old man was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday as a parole absconder from the Michigan Department of Corrections. Authorities say officers staked out a home earlier in the day and later surrounded it, prompting a brief standoff before he surrendered.
Police said the young man, whose name was not released, is being investigated in connection with the Jan. 31 fatal shooting of Dominique Nolff, of Middleville.
Nolff was shot multiple times inside his apartment at the off-campus Cedar Village complex, and later died at a hospital. His 20-year-old roommate from Grand Haven also was shot. He was treated at the hospital and released.
Police have said the shooting doesn't appear to be random, although they did not elaborate.
Shortly after the shooting, police released surveillance camera images of the suspected gunman. The photos show the man arriving the apartment complex around the time the shooting occurred, and leaving just minutes later.
