Plans For A Great Lakes Agricultural Fair
PONTIAC (WWJ) - Picking up where the Michigan State Fair left off.
Plans to be unveiled Monday for the Great Lakes Agricultural Fair to be held at the Pontiac Silverdome.
The hoped-for annual event would showcase Michigan's agriculture industry with a farm market, live animals and judging and entertainment.
"Southeast Michigan and the Detroit area is traditionally been the area for the state fair, and we want to keep the state fair well and alive, in some way shape or form. That's what we are to keep that going," said State Representative Eileen Kowall.
The state fair was cancelled in 2009 due to the state's budget problems. The proposed event would be funded through sponsors, fees and admission, but no taxpayer money.
