Plane Crashes Near Williams Lake: Pilot Survives
WATERFORD (WWJ) - A single engine water plane crashes on approach to Williams Lake.
Waterford Police and Fire crews responded to a reported airplane accident near Ideal Terrace just off of Williams Lake road in Waterford.
It is reported that the plane was attempting to make a landing on Williams Lake and may have struck some tree tops, causing it to go down into a vacant field.
The pilot, a 46-year-old from Waterford, was taken to an area hospital for evaluation but was alert and talking after the crash.
The airplane is a 1946 Piper J3C-65 fixed wing single-engine aircraft, registered to a company in Waterford.
The accident is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
No one else was injured in the plane crash.
