Pistons Spruce Up Rouge Park On Eve Of First 3-On-3 Hoop Tournament

DETROIT (AP) — A community day of service is scheduled at a west side park as part of opening ceremonies for the inaugural Detroit Pistons 3-on-3 Tournament at Little Caesars Arena.

Former Pistons players Earl Cureton and Don Reid are expected to join Pistons and Rock Venture employees Thursday for tree plantings, brush clearing, painting and other beautification projects at Rouge Park.

Youth from Detroit Parks and Recreation also will take part in a basketball clinic held on a Rouge Park court renovated last summer by the Pistons and the city. The Pistons have committed to investing $2.5 million in renovating and refurbishing 60 basketball courts over six years.

The one-day, family-oriented 3-on-3 tournament will be held Saturday. Games will be outside the arena, followed by the championship indoors on the Pistons' home court.
