Pistons Learning To Like The 3-Pointer

NBA teams like to experiment during the preseason.

The Pistons have expanded their offensive repertoire, adding the 3-point shot as a dependable resource. Last year, the Pistons shot a league-worst 31 percent and their 374 makes was third-worst.

Some old-school coaches, such as former Pistons coach Larry Brown, abhor the 3-point line. Others recognize that embracing it allows a team to have more diversity and versatility. The Pistons, who finished second-to-last in scoring (92.4), need to explore every available option.

"I have no problem with guys taking threes, but we have to make sure it's in the rhythm of what we're trying to get accomplished," Pistons coach John Kuester said.
