Pistons Knock Off Knicks
AUBURN HILLS (WWJ/AP) -Chris Wilcox threw down a one- handed dunk off a missed shot with 53 seconds left, and the Detroit Pistons rallied from an 11-point, fourth-quarter deficit to beat the New York Knicks 99-95 on Friday night.
The Knicks looked firmly in control with a 23-5 run giving them a double-digit lead, but the Pistons came back with their own 18-5 run in the fourth quarter of the game.
Speaking post game on 97.1 The Ticket Charlie Villanueva talks about the energy he brought into the game: "Just tried to give the team a spark, the guys found me and it worked," says Villanueva. "We helped each other tonight and that's how we got the win."
Chris Wilcox threw down a one- handed dunk off a missed shot with 53 seconds left, to cap the rally Detroit made for the win.
After Wilcox's dunk gave Detroit a two-point lead, Carmelo Anthony drove past Tayshaun Prince, but Wilcox was there defensively to force a missed shot.
After Will Bynum missed on the Pistons' next possession, Wilcox helped keep the ball alive, and Detroit came up with it. Bynum made two free throws with 11 seconds left for the final margin.
Anthony felt he was fouled on his drive in the final minute. He finished with six points on 2 of 12 shooting.
