Pistons Fall To Wizards, 107-103, Despite Jennings' 32 Points

WASHINGTON (AP) — John Wall had 27 points and 11 assists as the Washington Wizards pulled out a 107-103 win over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night.

The teams traded the lead on five consecutive baskets before Wall's jumper with 1:11 to play put the Wizards ahead 101-100. Marcin Gortat, who had 13 points and 14 rebounds dunked with 38 seconds to play, giving Washington a 3-point lead.

Rasual Butler had 18 points for the Wizards. His two free throws with four seconds to play put Washington ahead 107-103. Butler made seven of his eight field goal attempts.

Detroit, which lost for the third straight time and fell to 2-6, took a 13-point first quarter lead, thanks to Brandon Jennings, who scored 16 of his game-high 32 points in the quarter. It was the most points Jennings scored since Feb. 8 when he scored 35 against Denver.

Washington, winners of six of its first eight games, cut the lead to 59-57 at the half, and trailed 85-82 after three quarters.

Wizards: Washington is off to a 6-2 start for the first time since the 1975-76 season. . Allowed 59 points in the first half, equaling their worst of the season, but scored 57, highest of the season.

Pistons: Jennings had 12 points in the game's first 6 minutes, one more than he had in the previous game. . Detroit scored over 100 for the first time this season while losing their fourth straight road game. . F Luigi Datome missed his fifth straight game with a strained right hamstring.
