Pistons "Bad Boys" Reunite

PONTIAC (WWJ) - It's the ultimate "Bad Boys" reunion Thursday in downtown Pontiac - and you're invited.

Several former Detroit Pistons will be in attendance at the Eagle Theatre to mingle with fans starting at 9pm. You can rub elbows with some of the team's original Bad Boys including, James "Big Buddha" Edwards, John Long, Vinnie Johnson and Rick Mahorn.

It's a prequel to Friday's ceremony at the Palace of Auburn Hills where Dennis Rodman's number 10 jersey will be retired. Rick Mahorn says many fan favorites will be in attendance Thursday night and he's looking forward to the event. "We don't get together much and I think that it's appropriate that, finally, the fans can get a chance to see me and my friends," says Mahorn.

Approximately 20 years ago, the "Bad Boys" made headlines for dominating the NBA and winning two consecutive titles. Dubbed the "bad boys" by the media for their aggressive and relentless dedication to the game, the 1989-1990 Detroit Pistons went on to make NBA history for having a 63-19 season in 1989. And Mahorn says that he thinks the Bad Boys could go toe-to-toe with today's best NBA teams. "We were equipped to play two different type games. It was the "bump and grind" and then it was also the "let the horses go" - and we had the thoroughbreds with Rodman and also Salley," he says.

The Ultimate Bad Boys Reunion takes place Thursday night inside the Eagle Theatre, located at 15 South Saginaw St. in Pontiac. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $50 for VIP. Proceeds will benefit local community groups.
