Pistons 88, Bucks 80
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - The Detroit Pistons stop a rally in the final minutes to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 88-80 on Friday night.
As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - the Pistons (5-20) led for much of the game but the Bucks (10-12) made a surge in the final four minutes although Detroit was able to hold them off for the much-needed win.
"We had a tough road trip and it was nice to come back here and get a win," said Greg Monroe. "As a team we wanted to come out and play better."
Monroe had a double-double scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a blocked shot. Rookie Brandon Knight had a career high 26 points for the evening holding his own against Milwaukee's Brandon Jennings.
Knight, who was outscored 21-0 by Jennings in a loss at Milwaukee on Monday, helped the Pistons build a 15-point lead in the third quarter.
Milwaukee went on an 11-0 run spanning the end of the third and beginning of the fourth, and Detroit led by only four with 2:54 remaining. Knight responded with a floater, followed moments later by a driving shot off the glass, and the Pistons held on.
Jennings scored 20 points, but only seven after the first quarter.
