Pilot Killed In Cargo Plane Crash In Northern Michigan
PELLSTON, Mich. (AP) - A single-engine plane has crashed in Emmet County in northern Michigan, killing the pilot.
The crash occurred Tuesday night in a wooded area near Pellston Regional Airport, 20 miles south of the Mackinac Bridge. The sheriff's office says the Cessna 208B was being used by cargo carrier Martinaire Aviation, based near Dallas.
The pilot was identified as 26-year-old Jeffrey Salles of Terrytown, La.
The sheriff's office says the plane crashed after the pilot departed Pellston with more fuel. The plane was at an Upper Peninsula airport in Chippewa County before arriving in Pellston.
