Pig Found In Feces-Filled Highland Park Basement Days After Similar Rescue In Detroit
HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ/AP) - Officials say a pig has been found in a feces-filled basement in the Detroit enclave of Highland Park just days after a similar rescue of a pig from a Detroit home.
The male pig weighing between 200 and 300 pounds was found in a building in about a foot of his own excrement, according to The Detroit Free Press.
Melissa Borden, owner of The Devoted Barn animal rescue and rehabilitation facility, says the pig will get a new home and won't be slaughtered.
On Friday, police helped remove a 400 to 500 pound pig from the basement of a home on Detroit's west side that didn't have any stairs. WJBK-TV reports both properties were registered to the same person, who died last week and was known as a hoarder.
