Phone Network Outage In Oakland County

PONTIAC (WWJ) - Oakland County government is experiencing trouble with incoming and outgoing phone calls because of a network problem.

The problem is also affecting the Oakland County Sheriff's Office including the dispatch center.  The 9-1-1 system is working, and the department is able to receive both cell and land line 9-1-1 calls for assistance.

Callers who have a critical need may call the county's switchboard at 888-350-0900 and ask the operator to transfer the call to a county department or division.

Here is a list of alternate toll-free phone numbers provided by Oakland County:

Oakland County Sheriff Dispatch 800-647-3334
Health Division 866-683-7191
Nurse on Call 800-848-5533

Treasurer 888-600-3773
Work Force Development 800-742-5463
Oakland County Parks & Rec 888-627-2757

The county said in a news release that they're not sure how long it will take for service has been restored.  Those who have issues that are not urgent are asked to wait and call back at that time.
