Person In Custody In Harper Woods Man's Shooting Death

HARPER WOODS (WWJ) - Harper Woods police say they have a person in custody in connection with the murder of a retired General Motors worker.

No further information on the suspect has been released, although authorities say an arraignment is expected Thursday on charges relating to the death of 60-year-old Johnny Lee Buckner.

"The suspect will remain in our custody without bond on felony murder charges," Chief James Burke said in a statement.

Buckner was found dead Feb. 13 inside his home on Old Homestead Road. He was shot multiple times in what police say was not a random act. His car was found two days after his death, abandoned in Detroit. Investigators haven't yet released a motive for the killing.

Meantime, visitation for Buckner will take place Thursday in Detroit, with a funeral held on Friday.
