Pedestrian Killed While Crossing 8 Mile Road
DETROIT (WWJ) - Police say a 68-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle as he tried to cross the street.
The accident happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday on 8 Mile Road near Meyers Road, on the Detroit-Royal Oak Township border.
The man was apparently trying to walk across 8 Mile Road by the Royal Inn Motel when he was struck by a vehicle. He was declared dead at the scene.
Police said the driver who hit the man remained at the scene and was cooperative.
Eight Mile Road was closed to traffic for several hours while police investigated and reopened around 1 a.m. Wednesday.
The man's name was not immediately released.
