Pedestrian Killed On 24 Mile Road
MACOMB TWP. (WWJ) - Police say a 73-year-old man walking down 24 Mile Road was struck by a vehicle and killed late Monday night.
Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said the accident happened around 11:15 p.m. near the intersection of 24 Mile and Hayes roads in Macomb Township.
Wickersham said Tomislav Anakiev was apparently walking in the center of 24 Mile Road when he was struck by an eastbound traveling vehicle. Anakiev was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 62-year-old man from Utica, was questioned at the scene and released.
Police say they do not believe alcohol was a factor. An investigation is ongoing.
The accident happened about a mile away from a crash that occurred just hours earlier at 23 Mile and Hayes roads. In that incident, two people were killed and four were injured. Read more, here.
