Pedestrian Killed By Train ID'ed As 17-Year-Old Girl

FENTON (WWJ/AP) - Authorities have identified the victim of a train-pedestrian collision in Genesee County as a 17-year-old girl.

The girl, identified as Audrey Seigle, died Monday when a Canadian National train hit her on tracks that run under U.S. 23 near Silver Lake Road in Fenton, about 15 miles south of Flint.

Fenton police Lt. Jason Slater said Seigle was walking westbound along the rail just after 7 p.m. when she was struck.

The father of one of her friends said Seigle suffered from a hearing deficiency that may have contributed to the accident, Mlive.com reported. Police declined to comment on that aspect.

Canadian National railroad spokesman Patrick Waldron says the train was eastbound from Gaines to Holly.

An investigation is ongoing.
