Pedestrian Killed After Leaving Bar In Monroe County
FRENCHTOWN TWP. (WWJ) - Authorities say a 46-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a SUV after leaving a bar in Monroe County.
The sheriff's department says Timothy Walz, of Newport, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash Thursday night in Frenchtown Township.
Investigators say Walz had left the Gravel Pit Pub & Grub and was attempting to walk across Telegraph Road to his residence in the Kimberly Estates Mobile Home Park when he was struck by an SUV, driven by a 63-year-old Monroe man. According to police, Walz was wearing dark clothing.
Police say alcohol appears to be a factor for Walz, but not for the man who hit him.
An investigation is ongoing.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 734-240-7565.
