Patterson Hosts Budget Symposium
A budget symposium sponsored by Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson attracted more than a hundred public officials from across the state.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Florence Walton talked to the leader of Detroit's City Council, Charles Pugh, who praised Oakland County's budgeting techniques.
"There are municipalities and counties, like Oakland County, who have really done a good job of getting their costs under control, of really doing creative things like multi-year budgeting," Pugh said.
Patterson said the budget symposium is about "trying to let people know, really, the storm clouds that are out there, and how we intend to deal with it."
The summit focused on sharing best practice and policies that have worked for Oakland County.
Patterson said that he hopes other communities can use some of the practices that he shared to improve their budgeting, and work through the tough economic times.
