Pat Caputo: "Ugly" Bowl Win Couldn't Be More Pretty For Michigan When It Adds Up To 11-2
When a team can't run the football, turns it over constantly and only scores when its quarterback, who had a terrible night otherwise, throws the ball "up for grabs," it's not going to turn heads and draw a basket of kudos.
But viewing Michigan's 23-20 overtime victory against Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl in a cynical light is not giving the Wolverines proper credit.
The Wolverines were 11-2 this season. They won a BCS bowl game. They were 6-2 in the Big Ten after going 8-16 in the conference the previous three years. They beat Notre Dame, Ohio State and Nebraska.
