Before Sunday, we'd seen flashes of brilliance from Lions' quarterback Matthew Stafford.
He had that tremendous game as a rookie vs. Cleveland. He played very good football last season, albeit just three games because of injuries.
He was magnificent this preseason.
But nothing had signified his emergence as a top NFL quarterback like Sunday.
He completed 25-of-34 passes for 305 yards and three touchdowns against a Tampa Bay defense that was clearly designed to stop the Lions' passing game. He did so on the road under the pressure of the most anticipated Lions' opening game in eons.
