Pat Caputo: Great Drafts? Better Coaching? Improved Front Office? None Proving True For Lions


Before the season opener less than a month ago in Chicago, the Lions and the term "much improved" were often used in the same sentence.

This was the perception:

The Lions last two drafts were tremendous, and they were subsequently "on the rise."
Jim Schwartz was considered an upgrade from the Lions' several previous head coaches. Finally, the Lions had a "smart" coach.
General manager Martin Mayhew and team president Tom Lewand were not considered a part of the Lions' problems of the past, despite standing with Matt Millen for eight unbelievably inept years, but rather being praised for learning from the experience.
