Pat Caputo: Datsyuk Or Ovechkin? Datsyuk Might Be Better. This Is Why
Hockey history is full of spectacular plays, but I don't think I've ever appreciated a goal more than the one the Red Wings' Pavel Datsyuk scored Saturday at St. Louis.
It was perfect.
It was an important goal, late in the third period, with less than seven minutes remaining. It was a tie game, 3-3, but the Red Wings had just blown a 3-1 lead. The Red Wings hadn't been playing particularly well. The Western Conference standings were tightening, and the previous Saturday they had let a 4-1 advantage at Phoenix get away.
