Pastor Testifies In City Hall Corruption Probe
Prominent pastor and Detroit NAACP president Wendell Anthony has appeared before a federal grand jury looking into City Hall corruption.
The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press report that Anthony spent several hours Wednesday testifying in U.S. District Court in Detroit.
The pastor of Fellowship Chapel also serves on a city pension board. Pension board attorney Joseph Turner said Anthony is not targeted in the corruption investigation.
The Detroit News reports that Anthony was a member of the Detroit Building Authority when it awarded a multimillion dollar contract to Bobby Ferguson, a contractor and close friend of ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick.
Ferguson was indicted earlier this month on conspiracy to commit fraud and launder money.
