Parents Plead Guilty After Toddler Falls From Window
PONTIAC (WWJ) - The parents of a 2-year-old girl who fell from a second-story window of her home in Pontiac have pled guilty to child neglect.
According to authorities, 21-year-old Matthew McIntosh and 22-year-old Mattie McCann left their daughter home alone early Sunday morning. The girl then fell from the window and knocked on a neighbor's door looking for help, wearing only a diaper.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard said the child is OK. He said the McIntosh told police that the toddler had a history of trying to climb out the window.
McIntosh claims he left the girl alone when he went to buy cigarettes after walking McCann to her job.
Both parents are free on $2,000 personal bonds and are under a "no contact order" with the child until sentencing. They each face up to a year in jail or 5 years of probation.
Neither McIntosh nor McCann have a prior criminal history.
The girl is in the care of a relative.
