Parade of Stars Bluegrass Festival Returns To Auburn Hills
AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - The City of Auburn Hills is promising another pickin' good jamboree at its 15th annual Parade of Stars Bluegrass Festival.
This all-day celebration of acoustic melodies takes place on Saturday, September 10, from noon to 7:30 pm, on the lawn of the Community Center in Civic Center Park, 1827 N. Squirrel Road. There is a $5 entry fee per adult; students and children are free.
This year, five nationally acclaimed bluegrass bands will headline the concert: Grass Cats, Cody Shuler and Pine Mountain Railroad, Claire Lynch Band, Cats and The Fiddler (from Milford), and returning host band, The Special Consensus.
Brian Marzolf, Auburn Hills Recreation Director, said they expect more than 2,000 attendees at this year's festival.
"People come from all over southeast Michigan and beyond to enjoy the wide range of rich harmonies and ground-breaking techniques from experienced groups and those representing the next generation of Bluegrass, like the talented teen trio, Cats and The Fiddler," Marzolf said in a release.
The following is the performance line-up (schedule subject to change):
- 12:00 pm - National Anthem, O Canada
- 12:10 pm - Grass Cats
- 1:00 pm - Cody Shuler and Pine Mountain Railroad
- 1:50 pm - Cats and the Fiddler
- 2:50 pm - Claire Lynch Band
- 3:40 pm - Special Consensus
- 4:25 pm - Grass Cats
- 5:10 pm - Cody Shuler and Pine Mountain Railroad
- 5:55 pm - Claire Lynch Band
- 6:40 pm - Special Consensus
Audience members will have the opportunity to "meet and greet" the bands before and after they play.
The event takes place rain or shine. Lawn chairs are recommended, and coolers are allowed. No alcohol is permitted. Throughout the day, shuttle buses will be transporting guests to and from the parking lot of GKN Driveline, 3300 University Drive, where free parking is available adjacent to the concert.
