Over 2,000 Turn Out For The Cipriano Classic 5k Run
FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - A big show of support in Farmington Hills Friday for the Cipriano family. Just over 2,000 people participated in the Cipriano Classic 5K Fun Run & Walk.
WWJ spoke with Laura Pulaski who is executive director of the Farmington Family YMCA.
"Rose works at our YMCA as a personal trainer, her daughter has swimming on our swim team, and the rest of her family has worked out at the 'Y', they are family ... the 'Y' is family," said Pulaski.
Dolly Tapper from Dearborn Heights came to the fundraiser, she doesn't know the family but wanted to participate in some way. "It's a story that just tugs at your heart, and the Lord said we've got to love our neighbor," said Tapper.
Barbara Smith is a sorority sister of Rose Cipriano; "It was devastating so we all came together - some of us are out-of-state, and at the last-minute they decided to get together because it's so important to show our support."
The Run/Walk will raise an estimated $50,000 to go towards the Cipriano children's trust fund.
Rose, and her son Sal Cipriano, remain hospitalized with severe injuries from a beating allegedly by Rose's other son Tucker and his friend.
