Orioles 6, Tigers 5

DETROIT (WWJ) - Tigers rally to tie in the eighth but it's not enough as the Baltimore Orioles beat Detroit 6-5 on Saturday.

Jhonny Peralta singled in the eighth inning to tie the score at 5-5 but the Orioles came right back in the ninth to take the lead and go on to beat the Tigers.

As heard on 97.1 The Ticket - the Tigers were down 5-0 in the third inning, and made the comeback as Justin Verlander (24-5) pitched through seven innings of play - but ended his streak of winning starts at 12.

Verlander allowed five runs and eight hits as well as striking out six as he retired 13 of the last 14 batters he faced.

The Orioles' Matt Angle broke the tie in the ninth with a bunt that brought home the run that would win the game for Baltimore.
