"Operation Hilarity" For Tuesday's Michigan Primary?
DETROIT (WWJ) - Will Michigan Democrats and Independents "cross over" and vote in Tuesday's GOP Presidential contest? Bill Ballenger, the Publisher of "Inside Michigan Politics" says an encore of 12 years ago when John McCain's win in Michigan embarrassed the Governor, is not as likely this time around.
"First thing I'd say is that Rick Snyder is no John Engler. John Engler boasted openly about George Bush getting Michigan's vote. Rick Snyder held off until just last week to endorse Mitt Romney," said Ballenger.
Ballanger says that the Democrats and Independents wanted to embarrass Engler and the Republicans who boasted that Michigan would be a 'firewall' for George Bush.
Still, a campaign called "Operation Hilarity" may be gaining some traction as it encourages Michigan Democrats to vote for Rick Santorum and defeat Romney in his "home" state.
