OnStar To Track Santa Christmas Eve
DETROIT (WWJ) - For the third straight year, General Motors' OnStar in-vehicle information service is offering a special additional service on Christmas Eve.
That "blue button" on the OnStar-equipped rear view mirror is usually for directions or local information. But on Christmas Eve, OnStar is helping the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) track Santa Claus all around the world.
The service begins at 7 a.m. Eastern time Christmas Eve and runs into the wee hours of Christmas morning.
NORAD says it uses its North Warning Radar System, geo-synchronous satellites with infrared sensors and other technologies to monitor Santa's Christmas Eve travels and share the information with children and families around the world.
