One Year Later, U2 Will Perform In East Lansing
EAST LANSING (AP) - As far as Michigan State University of concerned, late is a lot better than never when it comes to U2 and Bono.
The group is set to perform at Spartan Stadium tonight - a year after the original date.
The group was scheduled to visit the East Lansing campus June 30, 2010, but that was postponed after lead singer Bono underwent emergency spine surgery that May.
At the time, U2 manager Paul McGuinness said that all the North American dates originally planned for last year were being rescheduled in the same venues.
Michigan State President Lou Anna K. Simon said in a statement last week that she's "very pleased' to host U2 and Bono, calling him a "tremendous global activist" for African and other causes.
