One Of 2 Slain Westland Teens Laid To Rest
NORTHVILLE (WWJ/AP) - The father of one of two Westland teens found dead in Detroit last week told nearly a thousand mourners at his son's funeral Friday that the boy touched many lives.
The services for Jourdan Bobbish, 17, which started with a bagpipe procession, took place at Ward Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Northville.
"He could light me up like nobody else," said Mike Bobbish of his son, Jourdan. "I'll see you soon, buddy. I love you to death."
There was no casket, but several flower arrangements were positioned below the altar. A photo slideshow played on two projector screens at the church, and photo collages were placed outside the sanctuary.
Mike Bobbish recalled calling his son Forrest Gump because Jourdan "was always running around," and joked Friday: "Jourdan, pull your pants up, Jesus is watching."
Jourdan and Jacob Kudla, 18, had been missing since July 22 after visiting the home of Kudla's uncle.
The teens were found last Friday fatally shot in a field on Detroit's east side.
One week later, Jourdan's Great Aunt Dathy Nolan came from Chesterfield to say her goodbyes.
"This is a day I don't want to go through," Nolan told WWJ Newsradio 950's Mike Campbell. "We shouldn't have to bury a 17-year-old boy. They're support to bury us."
Josh Bobbish, Jourdan's older brother, said he wanted to give him a green mushroom from "Super Mario Bros."
"Another life, you know?" Josh Bobbish said.
Donna Livingston of Wyondott didn't know Jourdan, but she said she just to come.
"I just think it's horrible. There's no regard for human life anymore," she said.
Kudla's family will have visitation Saturday morning at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Livonia. A public service begins at 11 a.m.
There have been no arrests in the teens' murders, but two men have been arrested in connection with partially stripping the car they were in that night. Casey Green, 39, and Larry Anderson, 40, were charged with larceny, obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence.
An investigation continues.
