One Injured In Shooting During Funeral
One person was injured during a shooting Friday outside a west side Detroit church. Police say a funeral service was interrupted by gunfire at around Noon on Friday at the Puritan Avenue Baptist Church at Baylis and Puritan.
Police Sgt. Eren Stephens says the suspect was described as being in his 20s and apparently left the funeral and returned with a gun. The Free Press reports the funeral was for 24-year-old Dwayne Eugene Smith Jr, who was killed by gunfire.
The injured morner was taken to a hospital for treatment. Witnesses told police a second person also may have been wounded.
So far, no arrests have been made.
