Omar Infante Back With The Tigers

Detroit Tigers second baseman Omar Infante has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo. Infante spent most of the season as Detroit's starter at that position but has not played for the Tigers since July 3 because of an ankle injury.
The veteran presence of Infante could be huge boost for an infield that just lost veteran Jhonny Peralta to a 50-game suspension and had been using both role player Ramon Santiago and 22-year-old Hernan Perez to compensate for the absences of Peralta and Infante.
Infante was hitting .309 with six home runs and 27 RBIs before he got hurt.
To make room for Infante, the Tigers sent Perez back to Toledo.
