Older Citizens Targeted By Gunmen On Detroit's West Side
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police say gunmen are targeting senior citizens on Detroit's west side.
Police reported two seniors were robbed at gun point within an hour of each late Sunday night.
An 82-year-old man was unharmed when he was mugged at around 11:30 p.m. as he exited his car on the 3800 block of Buchanan. In a separate incident, a 65-year-old woman was robbed and shot as she sat in her van at a gas station after midnight.
Police said the suspects in both incident are described as young black males, age 18 to early 20's. In the second incident, the victims said one of her attackers was about 6 feet two inches tall with a medium build, wearing a beige coat and a black mask. The second man was about sex feet tall with a medium build and was wearing dark pants and a black mask.
All were armed.
Both incidents occurred near the I-96/I- 94 interchange
The woman who was shot remained hospitalized on Tuesday in temporary serious condition.
