Oil Pipeline Restarted; Not Source Of Spill

A 14-inch pipeline that carries crude oil from Michigan's St. Clair County to Toledo, Ohio, has been restarted after officials determined it is not the source of a 42-gallon spill.

Sunoco Logistics Partners LP spokesman Thomas Golembeski said Friday afternoon that the pipeline was restarted about 9 a.m. and has been operating normally.

Crews still were excavating soil at the company's Marysville pump station in St. Clair Township, near Port Huron. Crude oil was found on the ground late Wednesday afternoon. Golembeski said the amount of the spill is estimated at one barrel.

Golembeski said the oil spill is contained to the pipeline operator's property and that ``no water has been impacted'' and there has been no impact to the community.
